Museo Forte Ospizio San Gottardo

The museum used to be part of the Gotthard’s fortifications. Between 1894 and 1947 it was occupied by a reinforced fortification artillery company, whose function was assuring the North-South connection, support the Southern front and defend the pass. Visitors may admire 12 cm armored howitzers, 5.3 cm canons, Maxim machine guns, 4.7 cm infantry canons, mortars, and other machinery. The museum exhibits historical arms, equipment and uniforms. Thanks to video and audio recordings, you can experience daily work scenes and war scenes from between 1914-1918.
